Yamaha India has announced a price cut on the 2018 R1. Launched in India in December 2017, the Yamaha R1 carried an earlier price tag of 20.73 lakhs. The price has now been reduced by INR 2.57 lakhs to INR 18.16 lakhs following a drop in Excise Duty on CBU range with the company passing on this benefit to customers.
Yamaha R1 is available in color options of Tech Black and Yamaha Blue. It is imported as a CBU from Japan. It appeals to younger buyers in its segment with a host of sporty features.
The Japanese automaker has stated that the R1 is developed as a flagship model of racing circuits with MotoGP class-leading performance. The Yamaha R1 gets Quick Shift System with minimal chassis disruption, full throttle clutchless upshift and Lift Control System. It is fitted with a massive 17-liter fuel tank due to which riders can travel up to 300 km with a full tank. The R1 is powered by a 998cc, four-cylinder engine offering 200 hp peak power at 13,500 rpm and 112.4 Nm peak torque at 11,500 rpm mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
The fully faired Yamaha R1 gets sporty front fairing, two small LED headlamps with LED DRLs and a sleek rear end. It also receives a fully adjustable suspension set up and high-performance braking with ABS and a 6 axis Inertial Measurement Unit with an electronic safety package.
In terms of competition, the Yamaha R1 competes with the Honda CBR1000RR (Fireblade), Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R and Suzuki GSX-R1000.
