How To Take Screenshots On iPhone X With No Physical Home Button

The iPhone X was unveiled on 12th September with jaw-dropping features. Along with many other new things, Apple has ditched the home button in iPhone X in order to make the device bezel-free.

As we have been using iPhone for a decade and have become habitual to the physical home button, we will miss it, at least for some days. And of course, we will also miss the way we used to take a screenshot on previous versions of iPhone. Earlier, we were using Home Button and Power Button combination to get the screenshot done. Now, how to take screenshots on the iPhone X when there is no Home button to speak of? Turns out that the device offers a new way to capture screenshots. And it is as easy as you used to screenshot your older iPhone. Just follow these simple steps.

How to Take A Screenshot on iPhone X?

• First of all, go to the screen you want to take the screenshot.
• Make sure everything is in order.
• Press and hold the side button on the right side of iPhone X.
• While Side button is still pressed, click the Volume Up button (This replaces the ‘Home’ button step from previous iPhones).
• The iPhone screen will flash, and you will hear the camera shutter sound (of course, if you had kept it enabled.)
• Once you’ve taken the screenshot, you can use all of iOS 11’s fancy new markup features to annotate it instantly or share it immediately.

Nothing has changed much, just the home button is replaced by the volume up button. Well, to try it yourself, you have to wait until November 3rd, which is when the phone actually ships.

The downside of taking screenshots is that they may look rather unsightly (there will be a notch at the top of the screenshot, as there is a notch in the display to house Apple’s new sensor systems), at least according to what the iPhone X simulator currently has to offer:

However, not all developers agree, with some images showing no-notch screenshots.

Well, we will have to wait for a real iPhone X to see how a screenshot actually looks. Let’s just hope the notch will not be present in actual screenshots, and that Apple can find a way to deal with it.
