As President Trump is looking for a James Comey replacement, the FISA Court begins to wonder “who watches the watchmen?
His last time testifying before Congress as the Chief of the FBI, James Comey without a doubt claimed that the information they gather on American citizens is “lawfully collected, carefully overseen, and checked.” We are aware this was a lie, thanks to declassified reports uncovered by FISA, not too long ago. The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISA) declassified documents early on this month exposing that the FBI infracted privacy protections guaranteed to American citizens.
Not just did the FBI overlook the rules meant to block them from supervising Americans, however they shared the illegitimately acquired information with prohibited parties.
The declassified court reports uncovered that the FBI was coordinating with the NSA to illegitimately supervise American citizens without warrants to do so.
The NSA generally intercepts the communications of foreigners for the purpose of national security. The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act obstructs the NSA from monitoring Americans without a warrant. This is intended to keep the NSA “honest.”
From time to time, Americans are incidentally spied on throughout the course of foreign surveillance. If this happens, the NSA is expected to cover up the identity of the U.S. citizen, unless they think revealing it is crucial to an investigation.
The FISA Courts and members of the Justice Department claim that the FBI has been ignoring their obligations to demand warrants. By synchronizing with the NSA, FBI investigators have been in a position to spy on targets of their investigations in new ways, involving listening in on private communications with lawyers.
Moreover, the Justice Department claims that the FBI has been telling lies in their disclosure files to conceal the degree of their illegal spying campaigns. Comey knew of this, and lied to Congress when he said otherwise.
No American citizen is safe when the elitists in our government have the power to spy on our most personal communications, and can turn them against us at any moment.
